Garden Grove Preschool

Our History as a Garden Grove Preschool

Community Day Preschool of Garden Grove was started in 1968 by six churches to provide child care for single mothers so they could go back to school or find suitable employment to stabilize their family. All the churches gave money and the Friends Church gave the building and playground rent free. In 1978 we became a non-profit school for single parents and low income families. At first all the teachers were volunteers. As requirements changed for  preschools, all teachers studied Early Childhood Education. We are now self sufficient, renting our facilities from the Garden Grove Friends Church but not receiving any church financial support. We have seen many children grow up through our program, and have even been able to teach the children of our preschools children as they grew up!

Community Day Preschool of Garden Grove has many areas of play both inside and outside, including a block area, puzzle area, library, housekeeping room, computer room, arts tables, a large sand box, playground equipment, ride-on toys, an outside play kitchen and many other mind-stimulating activities for your children to participate in. We also serve breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack at no cost.

We have the capacity for 40 children, and keep our class sizes small to allow teachers to focus on individual learning styles and the needs of each child. There are always two teachers in each class room.
